Position Overview:
- Seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to support and enhance a large-scale enterprise network and security infrastructure.
- This individual will serve as a Senior Technical Resource responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of Cisco networking and Fortinet security technologies.
- The ideal consultant will have extensive experience with Cisco routing and switching, advanced expertise in the Fortinet Security Fabric, and a proven track record of troubleshooting complex network and security issues in enterprise environments.
- This role requires a hands-on engineer who can quickly assess existing environments, execute improvements, and provide operational support while collaborating with infrastructure, security, and cloud teams.
- The successful consultant will be a hands-on senior engineer with deep expertise in Cisco networking and Fortinet security technologies, capable of quickly integrating into an existing team and contributing immediately to operational support, security initiatives, and network modernization efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Network Engineering:
- Design, implement, maintain, and optimize enterprise LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and data center networking environments.
- Configure and support Cisco routing and switching infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking issues.
- Manage routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
- Support high-availability network architectures and disaster recovery initiatives.
- Lead network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure enhancement projects.
- Fortinet Security Engineering:
- Administer and support Fortinet Security Fabric solutions.
- Design, implement, and optimize: FortiGate Firewalls, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiEMS, FortiClient, FortiAuthenticator, FortiSwitch, FortiAP
- Configure and maintain site-to-site VPNs, SSL VPNs, and IPsec VPNs.
- Manage SD-WAN deployments and security policies.
- Perform firewall rule reviews, policy optimization, and security hardening activities.
- Support Fortinet High Availability (HA) deployments and upgrades.
- Operations & Support:
- Provide Tier III escalation support for critical network and security incidents.
- Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for outages and performance issues.
- Monitor network performance and capacity utilization.
- Create and maintain network diagrams, documentation, and operational procedures.
- Participate in change management and maintenance activities.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of enterprise network engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies.
- 5+ years of experience supporting Fortinet security solutions in enterprise environments.
- Experience supporting large-scale, multi-site network environments.
- Proven ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex networking and security issues.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Technical Skills:
- Cisco Networking: Cisco Catalyst and Nexus Platforms, Cisco IOS and NX-OS, Routing and Switching, VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), EtherChannel, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP / VRRP, QoS, Network Segmentation, WAN technologies
- Fortinet Technologies: FortiGate Firewalls, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiEMS, FortiClient, FortiAuthenticator, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, Security Fabric, SD-WAN, IPsec VPN, SSL VPN, High Availability (HA), IPS / IDS, Web Filtering, Application Control
- Cloud & Connectivity: Azure networking concepts, AWS networking concepts, Hybrid connectivity, VPN technologies, ExpressRoute and / or Direct Connect experience preferred
Preferred Skills:
- CCNP Enterprise or equivalent Cisco certification.
- Fortinet FCP, FCSS, or NSE certifications.
- Experience with network automation using Python, PowerShell, or Ansible.
- Experience with monitoring and network management platforms.
- Prior experience in highly available enterprise environments.
