Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Indirect Tax Consultant to join our Tax team. This role will be responsible for managing and executing key indirect tax compliance activities, including the preparation and filing of 1099 forms, review and reconciliation of premium taxes, and support for international premium tax filings. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax reporting requirements, insurance-related tax obligations, and experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1099 Information Reporting
• Prepare and file annual 1099 forms in compliance with IRS regulations.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors to gather and validate reportable data.
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely updates to reporting processes.
• Respond to inquiries and resolve discrepancies related to 1099 filings.

Premium Tax Review
• Review and reconcile premium tax filings across multiple jurisdictions.
• Analyze premium data to ensure accuracy and completeness of tax returns.
• Assist with the preparation of premium tax workpapers and support documentation.
• Prepare quarterly premium tax accrual and payable reconciliation
• Collaborate with finance and underwriting teams to ensure proper tax treatment of premiums.

International Premium Tax Compliance
• Support the preparation and filing of international premium tax returns.
• Research and interpret foreign tax regulations related to insurance premiums.
• Maintain documentation and audit trails for international filings.
• Liaise with external advisors and local tax authorities as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in indirect tax, insurance tax, or information reporting.
• Familiarity with 1099 reporting requirements and premium tax regulations.
• Strong Excel skills; experience with tax software and ERP systems preferred.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the insurance or financial services industry.
• Exposure to international tax compliance and cross-border reporting.
